The salt of the earth

by kaiconfusion

A master piece about a great man Sebastião Salgado.
As a social photographer he witnessed many of the horrors of our time. As he almost lost his hope in humanity he and his partner Lélia Wanick decided to reforest his totally degraded family farm in Brazil. Today there are more than 2.5 million trees and over 1000 old repaired spring lines. Together they founded the Instituto Terra.  http://institutoterra.org/eng/midiaGalery.php#

A Simpler Way: Crisis as Opportunity (2016)

It isn’t the question anymore of how are we going to change the world but instead: When are YOU going to join the one’s already changing it?

It is easy to forget the concerns of the world in our daily lives and hard to grasp the big picture in these hyper complex times. Too easily it can be overseen how our day to day actions and inactions repeated by many have profound impacts on the globe and all its inhabitants at large.

“Think global – act local” – “Be part of the solution rather than part of the problem!”

Enjoy watching!

Permaculture: A Quiet Revolution

27 min | Permaculture | 2008 (BR) | English & Portuguese

As corporate media fails to provide accurate news of the world’s dire environmental predicament, the Earth sends a clear message in the form of record-breaking natural disasters, famine and epidemics. People are mobilizing for what lies ahead.

In May 2007, the 8th International Permaculture Convergence (IPC8) was held in Brazil, bringing together visionary activists from 43 countries in the common goal of preparing for, and mitigating, our looming global crisis. Their strategy: Self-reliance and sustainability through permaculture.

This timely documentary offers practical steps on how to ‘permaculturize’ our lives. It invites viewers into a permaculture community that spans the globe. Most importantly, it gives the critical inspiration needed to turn our backs on that which is failing us, and to create a sustainable future of our own making.
